Endless Knot

In essence, the term "endless knot" can be applied to a variety of designs that can be drawn or created without the tool ever leaving the creation surface.

This particular variety of endless knot, however, is one of the Ashtamangala or "eight precious things" of Tibetan Buddhism. According to Buddhist philosophy, the endless knot, in essence, symbolizes union; the bringing together of compassion and wisdom, as well as combining matters of the world with matters of the mind.
