In the Harry Potter novels, Hufflepuff is one of the four school houses that students can be placed in when they arrive at Hogwarts. Named for Helga Hufflepuff, one of the original medieval founders of the school, its colors are yellow and black and its heraldic device is a badger. The defining traits of members of Hufflepuff House are patience, industry and fair play.
