Cross on San Salvador Church, Merlán

Carved on the lintel of the Church of San Salvador, Merlán, Galicia, Spain.

A four branched version of the Triquetra.

The carving is centrally placed between two trees (figs?), one flourishing and the other one in apparently poor condition. A circle (the sun?) carved above the flourishing tree. Rudolf Koch shows a similar shape, with overlaid circle as an exorcism symbol. This church is on 'el Camino Primitivo' pilgrim route to Santiago de Compostela. Spanish guide book describes the trees as "Apocalyptic".
