PARTAI DEMOKRASI INDONESIA PERJUANGAN
This political party was called the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle which was abbreviated as PDI Perjuangan. The Pancasila-based Party as stipulated in the Preamble of the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia with the soul and spirit of its birth on June 1, 1945. The Party's identity is Nationality, Democracy and Social Justice. The character of the Party is mutual cooperation, democratic, independent, unyielding and progressive revolutionary.
PDI Perjuangan was formed on February 1, 1999, chaired by Megawati Sukarnoputri. The party has a general goal:
realize the ideals of the Proclamation of Independence on August 17, 1945 as referred to in the Preamble to the 1945 Constitution of the State of the Republic of Indonesia in the form of realizing a just and prosperous society within the framework of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia which is emblazoned with Unity in Diversity;
and striving to realize a prosperous, socially just Indonesia with a sovereign political standing, standing on its own feet in the economic field, and a culture of Indonesia.
