Symbol of Varrick Global Industries, a group featured in the television series “The Legend of Korra”.

Running from 2012 to 2014, “The Legend of Korra” was the sequel to Nickelodeon’s award-winning series “Avatar: The Last Airbender” (2005-2008). Picking up 70 years after the end of the original series, the sequel follows the adventures of Avatar Korra, a brave and determined young woman who has taken on the role played by Avatar Aang in “The Last Airbender”. In the years between the two series’, the world of Avatar has gone through and continues to experience momentous change. Korra must learn how to fulfill her role as the Avatar while simultaneously battling political resistance, all-out war, violent separatist groups, and supernatural powers that the world has not faced for thousands of years.

During the time of “The Last Airbender” and for nearly one hundred years preceding it, the world of Avatar was embroiled in a war between its four nations; the Water Tribes, the Earth Kingdom, the Fire Nation, and the Air Nomads. Following the resolution of the conflict at the end of the series, the nations began to rebuild themselves, and society began to evolve in unexpected ways: One of these new developments involved the growth of large businesses and industries that involved multiple nations and extended their corporate reach throughout the world.

By the time of “Legend of Korra”, Varrick Global Industires has evolved into the world’s premiere shipping business, and also engages in manufacturing original products. The founder of the industry, Iknik Blackstone Varrick, hails from the Southern Water Tribe and becomes a prominent player in several seasons of the series. In keeping with his heritage, the logo of his company is rendered in shades of blue (seen throughout the Tribe’s clothing, architecture, and other aesthetics) and takes the form of an abstract ship under full sail.
