Ammonium salt (alternate #4)

A symbol used to represent ammonium salt in 17th century chemistry.

For thousands of years, various forms of the eight-pointed star were a common symbol representing both the Goddess and the planet Venus (for more detail, see the symbol for 'Star of Venus'). This particular variety, however, also represented ammonium salt, or "sal ammoniacus".
