Tiratana

Tiratana

The tiratana represents the three most fundamental aspects of Buddhism.

Buddha, Sangha, Dharma. These three principles, commonly referred to as the “Three Jewels”, form the backbone of Buddhist belief, lifestyle and spiritual practice. Buddha, predictably, refers to the life of Siddhartha Gautama, the Indian prince who renounced his life of luxury and, through intense spiritual searching, achieved enlightenment. The Sangha is the community of devotees (monks and nuns) who have followed Buddha’s example and seek to spread his message to others. Finally, the Dharma refers to the knowledge and the teachings that all Buddhists must live by in order to follow in the founder’s footsteps.
