Gold-leaf (or foil) is gold that has been worked and flattened until it achieves an extremely thin consistency. In this form, gold has been used in all manner of ornamentation and decorations, and sometimes even foods are decorated with gold leaf purely for display purposes.

This substance and its symbol are essentially synonymous with 'Gold foil (alchemy)'.
