Spring

 Jesse Brauner
Spring

An old Germanic sign for the season of Spring, used in clog almanacs.

The curlicues on top of this symbol invoke two distinct images associated with spring; at first glance they look like new buds or sprouts emerging from the earth, indicating a sense of life and renewal. If you look a little deeper, however, they also bear a distinct resemblance to the astrological sign for Aries (i.e. ram's horns). This reinforces the fact that the Spring Equinox, which is the traditional indicator of the new year, falls within Aries' purview.
