Steel (alchemy)

Steel (alchemy)

The alchemical symbol for steel.

In addition to steel, this symbol also represented a substance known as antimonium sulphuratum, a compound of the materials antimony and sulphur, in 18th century chemistry. In fact, the symbol itself is a perfect combination of the individual alchemical symbols for these two elements; antimony is the circle on the bottom and sulphur is the triangle on the top.
