Android Logo

The green Android logo was designed for Google in 2007 by graphic designer Irina Blok.

The design team was tasked with a project to create a universally identifiable icon with the specific inclusion of a robot in the final design. After numerous design developments based on science-fiction and space movies, the team eventually sought inspiration from the human symbol on restroom doors and modified the figure into a robot shape. As Android is open-sourced, it was agreed that the logo should be likewise, and since its launch the green logo has been reinterpreted into countless variations on the original design.

The Android logo features a green robot standing upright with its arms slightly bent at the elbows, as if ready to embrace or engage with something. The robot has a round head with two antennae sticking out at the top, resembling ears or horns. The eyes are large and circular, with a small black dot in the center to represent the pupil. The mouth is a curved line, suggesting a smile or friendly expression.

The robot is surrounded by a green circle, which has a slightly darker shade than the robot's body. The circle is not complete and has a small gap at the bottom, giving the impression that the robot is emerging or breaking through.

The Android logo is minimalistic and playful, reflecting the brand's focus on innovation, creativity, and accessibility. The green color represents growth, energy, and nature, which aligns with the brand's commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility.
